Wednesday, November 14, 2012

We are happy to announce that our next trip to "the Valley" (Eugene) is this Wed-Thurs Nov. 14-15.   Please place your orders soon (hopefully sometime today, Tuesday, 11/13) or tomorrow (Wed) by 11 a.m.

We plan on shopping at Costco, Trader Joe's, Winco, Jerry's Building Supply, etc.  What can we pick up for you?

Here are some examples of the great products that we have found, use ourselves and recommend:
1)  Frozen Berries (Costco):
a)  Organic Antioxident Blend (cherries, blueberries, pomegranate arils, red raspberries & strawberries)  VCC price* $11.99 for 3 lbs. ($3.99/lb).
b)  Triple Berries (non-organic - blueberries, raspberries & marionberries  ) $13.19 for 4 lbs. ($3.30/lb).
Wonderful for yummy, healthy smoothies, desserts, etc.
2)  Avocados (Costco):  VCC price* $5.99 for 5 avocados ($1.20 each).  We like these because we have found they are generally better quality than we can find locally - large, plump and ripen nicely.   ...and the price is right!
3)  Vitamin D3 (Trader Joe's)  VCC price* $5.99 for 1,000 IU, 180 softgels
The sunshine vitamin!  With the rainy days of Fall/Winter upon us, most of us aren't spending much time outside, where our bodies can manufacture Vitamin D (when our skin is exposed sufficiently to the sun).  Research suggests that Vitamin D prevents depression, aids in the absorption of calcium, helping to form and maintain strong bones and provides protection from osteoporosis, high blood pressure, cancer, and several autoimmune diseases.  ....and isn't this a good price for a quality supplement?!
3)  Coffee, Organic Rainforest Blend (Costco):  VCC price* $20.39 for 3 lbs. ($6.80/lb).  Rick loves the taste of this coffee, and in addition to it being organic and therefore healthier for you and the planet, the company "works with the farmers to supply health care, housing, meal programs and education to the  workers and their families".  A win-win situation!!
5)  Triple Ginger Snaps - (Trader Joe's)  VCC price* $4.79 for 14 oz. of tasty cookies.  Made with fresh, crystallized and ground ginger, real butter (not hydrogenated oils) and other wholesome ingredients.  A gourmet treat for snacks or dessert, at a price that compares well with "grocery store" cookies that are made with inferior ingredients.
By the way, our next "Run to the Valley" is scheduled for Wed-Thurs Dec. 5/6, in 3 weeks.
Have a great day, and we are looking forward to hearing from you!
